Outer Hebrides / Western Isles bird sightings for today, 11th April 2018. Sightings updated throughout the day.

Ness, Isle of Lewis
News from Tony: The male Lapland Bunting was again by the sheep troughs in the field leading down to the hide at Loch Stiapabhat this evening.

Borve, Berneray
Adult white morph Snow Goose reported to still be present on Borve machair today. A single Pink-footed Goose was with Barnacle Geese and 2 Great Skuas flew north off the west side.

North Uist
A Chiffchaff was seen in Carinish and a Black-tailed Godwit was reported at Clachan Farm.

South Uist
A Brambling and Siskin were seen in a garden in South Glendale.

Another pulse of geese are on the move this evening. c350 barnacles and 50 Greenland white-fronts headed north past Brevig early evening. Several chiffchaffs and willow warblers were scattered around the island and 5 manx shearwaters were milling around off Brevig in the morning.

At Balranald NR, North Uist late morning/early afternoon sightings included several flocks of Barnacle Geese (only one of some 300 appeared to overfly the area), a flock of 37 Bar-tailed Godwits flew N, a Lapland Bunting was watched until out of sight also heading N, and a Swallow and a Chiffchaff were near the RSPB visitor centre.
