News from Andrew, South Uist

Drake ring-necked duck (returning bird ?) on Coot Loch this afternoon. Also there, single blackwit, 4 coot, pr of pintail & 14 gadwall.
Drake green-winged teal on nearby Loch Mor but chased and probably caught! (they were at the far end of the loch by then) by an adult white-tailed eagle that was hunting wildfowl on the loch.
Still up to 3 brambling and 2 blackcaps in my garden at Bornish.
Yesterday afternoon went for a look around Ollag/Ardnamonie on east side of Loch Bee following the report of a snowy owl there a couple of days ago – no sign but 3 daytime hunting short-eared owls.

Not a very successful attempt to obtain any worthwhile photos of the Canada Goose and Cackling Goose on the Paiblesgarry machair this morning. These two have been present in the area since the 8th and one only identified as Cackling Goose the previous day.
