How rare is Shoveler on Barra, has Stock Dove been seen on Harris, does Dotterel occur on Benbecula in the autumn, and how common is Blue Tit on North Uist? Well, fret no longer! On Barra, the 2nd winter kumlien's gull was off Brevig again this afternoon along with an adult and 2nd winter Iceland gull. 2nd winter glaucous gulls were at Tangasdale and Ardveenish. 8 brent geese were on Traigh Mhor. Ian reported there were at least 3 Iceland gulls at Ardveenish this afternoon. Redwings were again obvious around the island including c40 at Castlebay. Turnstones also seem to have increased in numbers in the past day or two.

Some sightings at Aird an Runair, North Uist on a pleasant mild day (not set to last apparently): a White-tailed Eagle flew out towards the Monach Islands, a Glaucous Gull was offshore with other gulls/Kittiwakes and auks (ca.50 in all with those closest in on the sea being Razorbills), an Iceland Gull came from the N and drifted S, a Great Skua came over as I was leaving the headland and went away to SW, and there was a flock of 45 Snow Buntings. The skua was early - earliest in the previous ten years was March 1st 2007 but two weeks or more later for the other years.
