Western Isles / Outer Hebrides bird sightings for today, 22nd February 2019. Updated throughout the day

Ruhba Ardvule, South Uist
Counting period: 07:55 - 10:05
Weather: Wind S F7-8, 8/8 cloud some light drizzle at first. Temp 11C.

A near two hour seawatch today produced 9 Eider (5S 4N), 3 Long-tailed Ducks (2S 1N), 4 Red-breasted Mergansers (S), 6 Red-throated Divers (S), 1 Great Northern Diver (S), 22 Gannets (5S 17N), 27 Shag (1S 26N) and 1 Razorbill (S).
Also present in the area were Wigeon 58, Teal 5, Red-throated Diver 2, Great Northern Diver 2, Cormorant 22, Curlew 12, Bar-tailed Godwit 16, Purple Sandpiper 45, Merlin 1, Meadow Pipit 1
The Merlin was seen chasing a Meadow Pipit all around the observer, completely oblivious to his presence.
