Always Birding
WeBS today around Loch Bee was quiet as expected at this time of year but interesting as the visible signs of Spring begin to appear. Mute Swan numbers were down from last month at 320 but 38 Whoopers were found amongst them. Tufted Duck were more numerous at 179 with Wigeon down to 286. There were also 91 Teal, 62 Mallard 1 Goldeneye and 8 Scaup [4 pairs] on the loch. Redshank [74] and Oystercatcher [144] were more evident as were Black-headed Gulls [48] and Common Gulls [83]. 80 Greenland White-fronted Geese and 112 Golden Plover were on the west bank and 4 Redwing were seen moving north.

South Ford was again “quiet” with 54 Grey Plover, 18 Knot and 17 Whoopers being the only birds of note.
