• When here in the Outer Hebrides and looking at a bird, have you ever wondered how rare it is? The status of all species can vary enormously from island to island. How rare is Shoveler on Barra, has Stock Dove been seen on Harris, does Dotterel occur on Benbecula in the autumn, and how common is Blue Tit on North Uist? Well, fret no longer! The Status and Distribution of birds here on the Outer Hebrides has been completely updated and summarised for every species and each of the main islands and outliers. Always Birding
The long staying Iceland Gull is still in the Kildonan/Glas Roe area and seen here in what has become it's usual pose of late. Among the many gulls there today were 6 Lesser Black-backed Gulls.

With a change in the weather from rain and a ESE wind to sunshine and showers and a WSW wind I was hoping for some seabird movement off Aird an Runair this afternoon. Perhaps it would have been more productive to have waited until this evening as the sum total of an admittedly short seawatch was a small party of Manx Shearwaters, a single Fulmar and and a trickle of Gannets passing. On the beach was an adult Knot and a Curlew Sandpiper in non-breeding plumage.

The summering Glaucous Gull was noted again at Loch Sandary.
