How rare is Shoveler on Barra, has Stock Dove been seen on Harris, does Dotterel occur on Benbecula in the autumn, and how common is Blue Tit on North Uist? Well, fret no longer! North Uist: it was fairly quiet at Loch Paible this morning apart that is from at least 1,000 rather flighty and noisy Greylags. A leucistic Common Gull was again noted and a Lapland Bunting flew off uttering its distinctive call (a rattle followed by a softer teu note). This month is when most pass through.

A Ruff was at Loch Sandary.

Quieter here on South Uist today with just 46 Black-tailed Godwits at Kildonan with circa 80 at Loch Bornish and just 2 Ruff. On the fields at Ormiclate there were 7 Black-tailed Godwits and 200+ Golden Plover while at Kilpheder 60+ Black-tailed Godwits were on the flooded fields there.
