Outer Hebrides bird sightings for today, 5th March 2018

Ness, Isle of Lewis
5 Snow Buntings were in the Cross area today.

Balranald,North Uist
The small Canada Goose was seen by Loch Sgaraigh, and a single pale-bellied Brent Goose was with Barnacle Geese nearby. A pair of Pintail were on Loch nam Feithean

Hougharry, North Uist
A 3CY Glaucous Gull was seen there today

Loch Paible, North Uist
A 3CY Iceland Gull and a pair of Pintail were present this morning.

Ruhba Ardvule, South Uist
Weather: Wind E F2-3, mostly 8/8 cloud, briefly brighter, temp 2.0C increasing to 4.0 C.
A 3.5 hour seawatch this morning produced 40 Eider (34S 6N), 1 Common Scoter (S -2CY Male), 8 Long-tailed Dicks (1S 7N), 2 Red-breasted Mergansers (N), 8 Red-throated Divers (4S N), 4 Gannets (N), 72 Shag (19S 53N), 3 Cormorants (N), 3 Guillemots (S), and 13 Razorbills (S).
Also present in the area were Barnacle Goose 1, Mute Swan 1, Shelduck 11, Wigeon 35, Teal 22, Tufted Duck 15, Long-tailed Duck 12, Red-breasted Merganser 7, Red-throated Diver 3, Great Northern Diver 14, Shag 21, Cormorant 24, White-tailed Eagle 1(3CY), Golden Plover 18, Snipe 8, Redshank 14, Knot 1, Purple Sandpiper 110, Black-headed Gull 2, Glaucous Gull 2 (juveniles), Kumlien's Gull 1(3CY), Iceland Gull 1 (adult), Peregrine 1, Hooded Crow 3, Raven 18, Starling 280, Meadow Pipit 2, Twite 98 and Bottle-Nosed Dolphin 4
