The Sound of Taransay
A drake Surf Scoter, 420 Common Scoter, 42 Slavonian Grebe, 240 Eider and 85 Long-tailed Duck were sen there today

Ardivachar, South Uist
A **Lesser Yellowlegs** was seen on the beach 500 yards south of the cark park. The Iceland Gull was also still present and a pair of Snow Buntings were on the nearby machair. A Black-tailed Godwit was at the north end of Loch Bee

Rubha Ardvule, South Uist
Counting period: 09:05-11:10
Weather: Wind NNE f1, 4/8 cloud overhead but dull as thick cloud to south-east obscuring sun. Temp -1 to 5c.

A 2 hour seawatch this morning produced 9 Eider (S), 7 Red-throated Divers (3S 4N), 3 Great Northern Divers (S), 13 Shag (4S 9N), 4 Cormorants (2S 2N) and 1 auk sp (S).
Also present in the area were Greylag Goose 195, Wigeon 8, Teal 22, Tufted Duck 12, Long-tailed Duck 52, Red-breasted Merganser 2, Red-throated Diver 83, Great Northern Diver 5, Grey Heron 1, Shag 8, Cormorant 26, Lapwing 27, Golden Plover 58, Curlew 6, Purple Sandpiper 152, Jack Snipe 2, Snipe 6, Hooded Crow 2, Skylark 35, Rock Pipit 1, Twite 160, Corn Bunting 1 and Otter 3.

The 83 Red-throated Divers is an unusually high count of birds on the sea for this time of year and Corn Bunting has become a scarce visitor to South Uist in recent times
