• When here in the Outer Hebrides and looking at a bird, have you ever wondered how rare it is? The status of all species can vary enormously from island to island. How rare is Shoveler on Barra, has Stock Dove been seen on Harris, does Dotterel occur on Benbecula in the autumn, and how common is Blue Tit on North Uist? Well, fret no longer! The Status and Distribution of birds here on the Outer Hebrides has been completely updated and summarised for every species and each of the main islands and outliers. News from Andrew

Male ‘subalpine’ warbler in my garden this afternoon though quite elusive (seen for 10 mins around 3pm and a brief glimpse around 4) . Attached poor cropped photos were taken through the office window. I’m not sure which one it is but leaning based on most colour being in the throat area with pale bricky pink wash on flanks, reasonably obvious moustache, rather pale looking upperparts and what you can see of white on the tail feathers (tail is in moult) in 3rd photo it’s maybe eastern or Moltoni’s???

Also today - Pectoral Sandpiper still at LA3 on the Range with 20 blackwits there. 19 blackwits and 2 ruff at Loch Bornish.
