• When here in the Outer Hebrides and looking at a bird, have you ever wondered how rare it is? The status of all species can vary enormously from island to island. How rare is Shoveler on Barra, has Stock Dove been seen on Harris, does Dotterel occur on Benbecula in the autumn, and how common is Blue Tit on North Uist? Well, fret no longer! The Status and Distribution of birds here on the Outer Hebrides has been completely updated and summarised for every species and each of the main islands and outliers. Import BirdTrack to WeBS online

Instructions for how to do this for your WeBS site can be found on the BTO website at https://www.bto.org/sites/default/files/07_-_import_from_birdtrack.pdf

This is a really useful function as the records are in BirdTrack which acts as the county bird records archive and which the bird report is compiled from. In the past the bird report editor has had to spend a lot of time downloading data from WeBS for use in the bird report. Some WeBS counters have very kindly been entering their count data into both the WeBS interface and BirdTrack, now this only needs to be done once, i.e. adding the data to BirdTrack then sending to the WeBS interface.

Any questions about this please don't hesitate to ask Yvonne, BTO RR, uistbto@gmail.com
