News of another island-hopping House Sparrow found by @Bruce this time on Vatersay!

P58 was originally ringed here in Askernish on 14-August-2018 as juvenile has not seen until now (13-January-2022) in Vatersay township, a distance of 30km and a duration of 3 years 152 days. The only other sighting on Vatersay was on 19-October-2019 when a bird was also reported from Vatersay township, but the ring number was not seen. Could it have been the same bird?

Yet another island-hopping House Sparrow was found in Askernish, this time a juvenile female ringed at Brevig, Barra on 21-October-2021 was retrapped here today (20-January-2022), and a colour ring (E38) added.

The movement between Askernish and Barra continues to amaze! Yet another House Sparrow from Barra turned up in Askernish, with a ring sequence (VZ18707) just 3 away from the bird caught in January (VZ18710)

A colour-ringed Sanderling known to have lost a colour marker seen on Askernish beach on 24th March 2022 was originally ringed in Iceland in 2016 and is known to winter in France where it has been recorded on 12 occasions, the last being 9 days prior to being seen here.
