Western Isles / Outer Hebrides bird sightings for today, 14th January 2019. Updated throughout the day

Loch nam Feithean, North Uist
7 Pintail were on the loch

Rubh' Arnal, North Uist
An Iceland Gull and 23 Light-bellied Brent Geese were seen there today

Clachan-a-Luib, North Uist
A Fieldfare was there today

Balashare, North Uist
A Glaucous Gull was seen there today. Also present were 18 Light-Bellied Brent Geese

Loch Bee, South Uist
2 Little Egrets were reported there today

A late afternoon wander around the patch here in Askernish. Dreich and dreary with a cold wind blowing. Fairly quiet out there and I wasn't able to add any further species to my Patchwork Challenge list.

42 Curlew, 38 Ringed Plover and 35 lapwings were amongst the usual waders on the beach.

31 Redwings were on the overhead wire in Askernish township.


Nothing much on here apart from a single Mute Swan...


A rather gruesome find on the gatepost that marks the Askernish/Frobost township boundary...

Gosh. I thought at first glance your gruesome find was a Short-eared Owl in a Gintrap. Thanks heaven for small mercies.
Keep up the good work and save some nice sightings for my next visit on First of June..
Tea and biccies, or something stronger in my shed although I cannot promise a pair of goldies hunting from the patio.

Good to hear from you @Fred i’m not sure whether i’d disturbed something mid meal though i didn’t notice anything around - it was pretty much picked clean.
