How rare is Shoveler on Barra, has Stock Dove been seen on Harris, does Dotterel occur on Benbecula in the autumn, and how common is Blue Tit on North Uist? Well, fret no longer! The best I could on a wet day on Barra was single juv Iceland gulls at Cleat and Eoligarry plus the usual flock of c140 long-tailed ducks off of Craigston and Tangasdale.

After rain and strong S wind gave way to sunny intervals by the early evening I was disappointed there was no skua passage at Aird an Runair, North Uist. During a visit of about an hour there was just a single Arctic Skua (probably a 'local' bird). There were good numbers of waders and gulls (including a leucistic Common Gull) on the beach at high tide.

On my return home there was a flock of at least 25 White Wagtails by Loch Scarie.
