Western Isles / Outer Hebrides bird sightings for today 20th April 2019. Updated throughout the day.

Near Skigersta, Ness, Isle of Lewis
A *White-billed diver* was reported today, it later drifted off to the north-west.

Lochmaddy, North Uist
2 Common Terns were seen in the harbour.

Two Arctic Terns at the harbour there.

Rubha Ardvule, South Uist
A seawatch today 07:00 - 11:05
Weather: Wind SSW f4, mix of cloudy spells and long sunny periods. Temp 10 - 11C

Red-throated Diver 4S, Fulmar 65S 1N, Manx Shearwater 11S, Gannet 94S 16N, Shag 4S 7N, Cormorant 3S 1N, Whimbrel 5S, Kittiwake 192S 2N, Arctic Tern 2S, Great Skua 2S 1N, Arctic Skua 1N, Razorbill 13S, Razorbill/Guillemot 7S 5N, Puffin 17S 19N, Meadow Pipit 9S

Also present in the area: Greylag Goose 6, Shelduck 3, Wigeon 2, Pintail 2, Teal 2, Tufted Duck 14, Eider 44, Red-breasted Merganser 1, Great Northern Diver 8, Cormorant 17, Hen Harrier 1, Common Buzzard 1, Whimbrel 1, Bar-tailed Godwit 1, Black-headed Gull 50, 2CY Glaucous Gull 1, Skylark 1, Sand Martin 3, Wheatear 1, Pied Wagtail 1, Meadow Pipit 4

On Vatersay this morning there were 25 Black-tailed Godwits at Caolas. More of a surprise though was a Moorhen on the small muddy pool in the township. This is the first time I've recorded one on Vatersay. On Barra a late male Brambling was at Ardmhor.
