Outer Hebrides / Western Isles bird sightings for today, 27th July 2018. Updated throughout the day

Hirta, St Kilda
There were 2 Rose-coloured Starlings in village bay today with an adult joining the 2cy bird which has been there since the 24th July

Hushinish, Isle of Harris
The adult Rose-coloured Starling was seen again this morning

Sound of Taransay, Isle of Harris
A drake Surf Scoter was seen there today

Ruhba Ardvule, South Uist
Counting period: 06:45 - 09:30
Weather: Wind SSE F4-5, 8/8 cloud with drizzle from 08:50. Temp 16.8C.

A near 3 hour seawatch this morning produced 8 Fulmars (2S 6N), 57 Manx Shearwaters (21S 36N), 241 Gannets (202S 39N), 3 Cormorants (S), 2 Great Skuas (S), 2 Razorbills(S) and 4 auk sp (2S 2N).
Also present in the area were Greylag Goose 16, Lapwing 11, Dunlin 46, Snipe 12, Arctic Tern 18, Rock Dove 6, Skylark 1 and Pied Wagtail 7

Always Birding

Large numbers of Meadow Pipit moving through Askernish this evening. 60+ birds ringed (all juveniles except one) in 2 hours using only 2 small nets so I just can't imaging how many there actually were
