• When here in the Outer Hebrides and looking at a bird, have you ever wondered how rare it is? The status of all species can vary enormously from island to island. How rare is Shoveler on Barra, has Stock Dove been seen on Harris, does Dotterel occur on Benbecula in the autumn, and how common is Blue Tit on North Uist? Well, fret no longer! The Status and Distribution of birds here on the Outer Hebrides has been completely updated and summarised for every species and each of the main islands and outliers. OH Bird Recorder
Feeling a bit fed up as i'm currently laid up with shingles :( Persuaded @MisterT to take me for a ride around the local patch to get me out of the house and hopefully add a few species to my patch year list.

Managed to add Arctic Tern (3 near Frobost), Moorhen - there were two on the rapidly drying out pool on the golf course, Black-headed Gull (near Frobost) and Whimbrel - there were many small groups all along the machair between Frobost and Loch Hallan - i counted at least 58 birds. Also new for the year for the patch was a Common Redpoll on the bird feeder early this morning.
