Western Isles / Outer Hebrides bird sightings for today, 3rd March 2019. Updated throughout the day

Amhuinnsuidhe, Isle of Harris
2 Goosander were seen there today

Ruhba Ardvule, South Uist
Counting period: 07:25 - 11:00
Weather: Wind W backing WSW F8-9 easing to F7-8, rain at first, sunny periods later. Temp 8.5 - 9C

A 3+ hour seawatch this morning produced 1 Shoveler (Male flew South amongst Eider), 10 Long-tailed Ducks (8S 2N), 5 Red-throated Divers (S), 1 Great Northern Diver (S), 37 Fulmars (34S 3N), 61 Gannets (48S 13S), 14 Shag (3S 11N), 2 Cormorants (1S 1N), 125 Kittiwakes (122S 3N), 53 Razorbills (S), 7 Black Guillemots (S) and 9 auk sp (S).
Also present in the area were Greylag Goose 2, Wigeon 62, Teal 7, Long-tailed Duck 43, Red-breasted Merganser 2, Red-throated Diver 1, Great Northern Diver 1, Cormorant 18, Bar-tailed Godwit 17 and Purple Sandpiper 60

A seawatch at Aird an Runair, North Uist between 09.25-10.55 produced the following: 2 Long-tailed Ducks (N), 9 Fulmars (3N, 6SW), 2 Great Northern Divers (SW), 127 Gannets (113N, 14SW), 214 Kittiwakes (197N, 17SW), a Black Guillemt (N) and 5 Guillemots/Razorbills (SW). On the seaweed were 55 Purple Sandpipers and a Glaucous Gull was disturbed from a seal carcass.
