The strong SW gale Force 8-9 is still raging through Ness, with most birds skulking or hunkering down out of sight.
The Butt held a surprising variety early this morning (09.00-10.00):
Glaucous Gull – a/the juv near the lighthouse
Common Eider – a drake
Eurasian Wigeon – 18 busily grazing by the roadside pool near the lighthouse
Redwing – 3 inside lighthouse compound
Blackbird – male there
Goldfinch – one there
Snow Bunting – a male there
