Western Isles / Outer Hebrides bird sightings for today, 5th July 2019. Updated throughout the day

Tarbert, Isle of Harris
A Coal Tit was seen feeding newly fledged young and a male Blackcap was singing in The Harris Hotel grounds today

Loch Sandary, North Uist
A Ruff was seen there today.

Ardnastruban, Grimsay
The Rose-coloured Starling was again seen in the area

Ruhba Ardvule, South Uist

Weather: Wind WSW backing SW F4. 8/8 cloud, spells of light misty drizzle. Temp13C.

A 3+ hour seawatch this morning produced 1 Great Northern Diver (S), 2 Storm Petrels (S), 4 Fulmars (3S 1N), 274 Manx Shearwaters (272S 2N), 90 Gannets (79S 11N), 2 Cormorants (1S 1N), 3 Kittiwakes (S), 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull (S), 1 Arctic Skua (N), 4 Razorbills (S) and 6 auk sp (S).
Also present in the area were Shelduck 1, Cormorant 9, Common Buzzard 1, Ringed Plover 13, Curlew 1, Dunlin 15, Black-headed Gull 2, Common Gull 150, Lesser Black-backed Gull 1, Arctic Tern 20, Raven 2, Sand Martin 20, Wheatear 2, Pied Wagtail 2, Meadow Pipit 4, Twite 5
