Birding on Vatersay this morning produced a very welcome surprise in the form of a Corn Bunting on the crofts near the cemetery. The Corn Bunting population on Vatersay vanished about 6 years ago, a couple of years after the last Barra birds were seen. I for one didn't ever expect to see another here. Todays bird was associating with a mixed flock of c25 Skylarks, 30 Twite, 15 Goldfinches and a few Chaffinches. There were also c60 Redwings and a lone Whooper Swan around the township.

The small Canada Goose was still with c210 Barnacle Geese at Borve. These birds are now also spending time around Allasdale.
