Ness, Isle of Lewis
News from Tony Marr:-

"With no change in the weather, Ness awoke this morning to a large increase in the numbers of geese, with Pinkfeet numbers almost doubling overnight. Area cumulative totals were as follows:-"
  • Pink-footed Geese – 5,000+ - a wonderful sight and sound
  • Barnacle Geese – only two – I may have missed a flock
  • Whooper Swan – 14 on Loch Stiapavat
  • Pintail – 3
  • Shelduck – one
  • Shoveler – 2 pairs
  • Black-tailed Godwit – 31 again
  • Iceland Gull – none on the cliffs at Port of Ness but this evening a juvenile at the Butt

"I took an hour’s drive round this evening, and estimated that the Pinkfoot total was no more than 2,500"
