Western Isles / Outer Hebrides bird sightings for today, 19th August 2023. Updated throughout the day

Port Nis, Isle of Lewis
2 Great Skuas, an Arctic Skua and small numbers of Manx Shearwater past in a 4 hour seawatch. A Grasshopper Warbler, Whinchat and a Willow Warbler were seen in gardens there. 3 Whimbrel and 2 Turnstone were seen to come in off the sea at the Butt of Lewis

Stornoway, Isle of Lewis
10 Sooty Shearwaters and 12 Storm Petrels were seen from the Ullapool - Stornoway ferry late afternoon

Loch Paible, North Uist
3 Ruff, 4 Whimbel and a Black-tailed Godwit were there this morning. A Black-tailed Godwit was nearby at Knockintorran

Coot Loch, Benbecula
A **White-winged Black Tern** was there early afternoon. 2 Ruff, a Whimbrel and 5 Black-tailed Godwits were also there

Rubha Ardvule, South Uist
A Sooty Shearwater and 2 Storm Petrels were seen there this evening. A Ruff and the Glaucous Gull were also in the area

Askernish, South Uist
The Glaucous Gull was again seen on the machair late afternoon

Boisdale, South Uist
A Swift flew south this morning. 5 Ruff and 2 Black-tailed Godwits were also there
