• When here in the Outer Hebrides and looking at a bird, have you ever wondered how rare it is? The status of all species can vary enormously from island to island. How rare is Shoveler on Barra, has Stock Dove been seen on Harris, does Dotterel occur on Benbecula in the autumn, and how common is Blue Tit on North Uist? Well, fret no longer! The Status and Distribution of birds here on the Outer Hebrides has been completely updated and summarised for every species and each of the main islands and outliers. The white-billed diver was off Eoligarry again over this evenings high tide. Also at least 8 slavonian grebes between here and Ardmhor ferry terminal. 3 Greenland white-fronts were at Cleat. A juv Iceland gull was again on Traigh Mhor and the glaucous gull was still on Loch Tangasdale

Eight Whooper Swans flew N over Carinish just after 09.30. (Some more to be added to yesterdays total - seen by René at Bayhead: 12 roosted in the bay overnight before departing at 07.08 and 23 flew through at 11.05 - maybe same (plus one) as the flock on the water at Claddach Kirkibost earlier?) A lone Glaucous Gull remains on Baleshare beach.
