Western Isles / Outer Hebrides bird sightings for today, 12th December 2019. Updated throughout the day

Balranald, North Uist
The 2 ***Cackling Geese*** were seen on the reserve today. The drake Pintail was still on Loch a Roe

South Glendale, South Uist
The female Blackcap is still in a garden there

Ruhba Ardvule, South Uist
Counting period: 08:30 - 10:45
Weather: Wind SSE f3, 8/8 cloud, dull. Temp 4C.

A 2+ hour seawatch this morning produced 5 Eider (4S 1N), 5 Long-tailed Ducks (1S 4N), 3 Red-throated Divers (S), 3 Gannets (S), 26 Shag (6S 20N) and 5 Cormorants (2S 3N).
Also present in the area were Goose 184, Wigeon 65, Pintail 1 [female], Teal 29, Tufted Duck 15, Goldeneye 3 [2 male 1 female], Red-breasted Merganser 1, Great Northern Diver 1, Cormorant 12, White-tailed Eagle 2, Bar-tailed Godwit 9, Black-tailed Godwit 1, Purple Sandpiper 3, Redshank 17, Hooded Crow 14 and Rock Pipit 1

Some 200+ Common/Herrings Gulls flew south along the beach at Frobost mid morning and amongst them was a 1st winter Glaucous Gull. 12 Whooper Swans were still on Loch na Liana Moire
