• When here in the Outer Hebrides and looking at a bird, have you ever wondered how rare it is? The status of all species can vary enormously from island to island. Barra
An obvious arrival of thrushes across the island involving thousands of Redwings, a minimum of 60 Fieldfares and single Mistle Thrushes at Cuithir and Ardmhor. Brambling numbers increased to at least 30 including a flock of 9 at Bruernish. Single Waxwings were at Glen and Creachan, the Ring-necked Duck remained on Loch an Ali and the Kingfisher that's been around since September was seen again at Northbay. Yet another Jackdaw was seen, this time at Northbay, following flocks of 4, 7 and nine in recent days.
