Western Isles / Outer Hebrides bird sightings for today, 24th March 2019. Updated throughout the day

7 Whooper Swans were on Borgh machair with an additional 3 on Loch Brusda. 430 Sanderling, 109 Purple Sandpiper and 197 Turnstone were on East Beach where a Short-eared Owl was flushed from the shelter of the sand cliff. 2 Goosander were with 4 Mergansers at East Bay and a Slavonian Grebe was seen off the causeway

Clachan Farm, North Uist
1200 Barnacle Goose and 225 Golden Plover were there today

Balranald, North Uist
20 Greenland White-fronted Geese were seen there today

South Glendale, South Uist
The Great Tit was again in a garden there

Ruhba Ardvule, South Uist
Counting period: 07:00 - 09:45
Weather: Wind W F6-7, mix of sunny periods and heavy showers. Temp 7.2C.

A 2+ hour seawatch this morning produced 6 Eider (S), 1 Red-throated Diver (S), 3 Fulmars (2S 1N), 2 Manx Shearwaters (S), 43 Gannets (19S 24N), 14 Shag (1S 13N), 7 Bar-tailed Godwits (S), 2 Kittiwakes (1S 1N), 4 Razorbills (S), and 1 auk sp (N).
Also present in the area were Wigeon 18, Tufted Duck 4, Red-breasted Merganser 6, Great Northern Diver 2, Cormorant 20, Black-headed Gull 8, Lesser Black-backed Gull 1 and Raven 2
