• When here in the Outer Hebrides and looking at a bird, have you ever wondered how rare it is? The status of all species can vary enormously from island to island. How rare is Shoveler on Barra, has Stock Dove been seen on Harris, does Dotterel occur on Benbecula in the autumn, and how common is Blue Tit on North Uist? Well, fret no longer! The Status and Distribution of birds here on the Outer Hebrides has been completely updated and summarised for every species and each of the main islands and outliers. A tree pipit and fieldfare at Grograry Lodge. 12 woodpigeons at Snishival Plantation (a couple of pairs have breed there in recent years but obviously some migrants).

A pr of common redpoll types in Daliburgh and still a pr in my garden in Bornish with the male siskin still present.

Increase in whimbrel today 21 at LA2 on the Range; c60 between Stilligarry and Drimsdale; 12 Bornish machair & 27 at Peninerine.

c60 black-tailed godwit Balgarva and obvious widespread arrival of Greenland type wheatear on South Uist.

cheers, Andrew
