  • At a time when travel is being actively discouraged, we will not be posting any sightings that may inspire individuals to do so. We will endeavour to continue to report routine sightings that may be of interest, but not of scarce or rare birds. We thank you for your understanding and of course visiting birders will be most welcome once this crisis is over. Please be safe and sensible and follow government advice and not put our community at risk.

News from Andrew

Male ‘subalpine’ warbler in my garden this afternoon though quite elusive (seen for 10 mins around 3pm and a brief glimpse around 4) . Attached poor cropped photos were taken through the office window. I’m not sure which one it is but leaning based on most colour being in the throat area with pale bricky pink wash on flanks, reasonably obvious moustache, rather pale looking upperparts and what you can see of white on the tail feathers (tail is in moult) in 3rd photo it’s maybe eastern or Moltoni’s???

Also today - Pectoral Sandpiper still at LA3 on the Range with 20 blackwits there. 19 blackwits and 2 ruff at Loch Bornish.
