• When here in the Outer Hebrides and looking at a bird, have you ever wondered how rare it is? The status of all species can vary enormously from island to island. How rare is Shoveler on Barra, has Stock Dove been seen on Harris, does Dotterel occur on Benbecula in the autumn, and how common is Blue Tit on North Uist? Well, fret no longer! The Status and Distribution of birds here on the Outer Hebrides has been completely updated and summarised for every species and each of the main islands and outliers. OH Bird Recorder
Ah well, here we go again, i'll very optimistically set myself the target of 100 on patch for the year, how that will work out I have no idea!

1st January 2023 - a much better day than this day last year when my notebook reads "weather rubbish, lashing rain and winds gusting to 70mph" :D Today was the complete opposite of that, a beautiful totally calm, sunny day though very cold and icy with all the water lying in the hollows and most of the lochs frozen, just small areas of open water.

A better day weather-wise today but still cold - I had high hopes of Snow Buntings on the beach but it wasn't to be. Nice to see a bit of sunshine though :)
