Up to five Goldfinches have been in the willow trees in our garden at Carinish, North Uist recently. Most of the time they are pecking at the twigs and later examination revealed no obvious prey species. I have noticed this behaviour before with redpolls. Two of the Goldfinches seen to have been ringed.

The Tree Sparrow was again in a Paiblesgarry garden, North Uist, this morning just after 08.30 hours.

Some other news: five Glaucous Gulls and an Iceland Gull were present today at Baleshare, North Uist while the Brambling remains in a South Glendale garden.
